Snowcrest Cockers began in 1980

Snowcrest Cockers began in 1980 with the acquisition of a buff bitch who later achieved a National #4 ranking in Open Obedience. Parti-colors soon caught our eye and Ch Seven Acres Standout was leased from Martha Jean Robinson. Standout, top winning parti bitch for the first half of 1983, produced 7 champions for Seven Acres and Snowcrest. She was OFA good and SLT clear at age 8 with a cheerful temperament and easy-going nature. We are on our fifth generation, descended from Standout!

We breed one or two litters per year---enough to keep us with a hopeful to show. Companion-quality dogs are sold on spay/neuter agreement. We include a written guarantee that eyes will be free from inherited defects (cataracts and PRA) and the hips will pass the OFA'a stringent rating system. Show-quality dogs are available after age 6 months. Every champion was a beautiful puppy, but not every beautiful puppy becomes a champion! We believe that purchasing a show prospect under the age of 6 months increases the risk for the new owner that the puppy may not mature as expected. Our six-month old prospects are ready to enter ring and in most cases, have been shown. All show prospects are sold with guarantee and buy-back provision. We believe that a kennel is only as good as the quality of its bitches. It is so easy to breed to a top winner or top producer! It's unrealistic to expect that exceptional dog to produce a top quality puppy if the dam does not contribute quality to the equation! You can't breed bluebirds from crows. We do genetic testing on our Champions who are selected to produce the next generation. Hips are x-rayed and rated by the Orthopedic Foundation of America (OFA). Eyes are tested annually for cataracts and PRA until age 8 by a Board Certified Canine Ophthamologist. We are happy to provide copies of these tests to clients.

We are located in Batesville, Arkansas but we have been fortunate to have lived in the West, Midwest, and South over the years. We have enjoyed membership in the various Cocker Clubs (Hiawatha CSC, Southern Idaho Cocker Fanciers, and Cocker Spaniel Club of Memphis) as our careers have moved us around. This has provided a great learning experience with excellent exposure to many philosophies about dog breeding.

Max & Sandee are both engineers, so the genetics of breeding have always fascinated us. Lindsey has been showing in matches since age 5 and put her first points on a dog at age 7. In fact, she attended her first show at the tender age of one month where she created more work than the show string of dogs!

We are current members of the American Spaniel Club (since 1980's). We participate in the American Spaniel Club Health Registry.
